About Us

Corporate Social
Responsibility

At AirKenya (and our sister airlines, AeroLink in Uganda, and Regional Air in Tanzania), we know the value of social impact and its ability to transform the lives of the communities in which we work.

Our Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility strategy has evolved in recent years, with a keen focus on education, water and sanitation, and sponsorship of East African entrepreneurs. Our aim is to help surrounding communities reach the height of their potential – to fly high, one might say – and showcase East African excellence.

WASH: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene

Our collaboration with the Samburu Project is transforming the lives of young women and girls in Northern Kenya, as the team continues to provide new sources of clean water to communities that need it most. In this drought-stricken region, access to water can create a positive impact across every aspect of its people’s lives. The Samburu Project’s mission is to provide clean water and continued support for local communities, promoting health, education, and women’s empowerment – having already drilled 147 wells across the region, supplying water to more than 100 000 people. Our group was happy to partner with such an impactful organisation, and since our partnership was conceived, we provide air transportation to staff and board members of the Samburu project to ensure they can continue working on their incredible mission – from the air to the ground.

Small businesses are the heart of many communities, but during economic declines, can be the first to close their doors. When we found out the only financier of Nairobi’s Taekwondo Waithaka Club had tragically passed, our group knew we had to intervene. George Mureu had spent years providing children and young adults with coaching and mentorship, but following his death in 2019, the club was left with a major finance gap: a lack of sponsorship for its championship competition in Embakasi. AirKenya stepped in as the sponsor and supplied some much-needed equipment to the training hall, and in the following years, the club has continued to flourish. It now provides expanded outreach across a number of other sports.
